Playing percussion in a group is tremendous fun. Participants are energised, have to work together and become more engaged in the session. It is flexible in its application, enhances the overall learning environment and can be used to reinforce specific business or learning objectives, thus creating greater impact. The group as a whole becomes more united and focused on the learning objectives.
Percussion uses the aural, visual and kinetic senses powerfully to physically stimulate whole-brain activity. Our brains are naturally wired to use both the right (creative) and left (logical) hemispheres but society has made most of us become left dominant. Once awakened, whole-brain activity makes the learning and outcome experiences broader and deeper. At the same time, like any muscle, the more the brain is stimulated to work holistically, the more natural it becomes for it to function this way on a regular basis. It is this whole-brain activity that makes Innerbeat and the use of percussion so effective in any learning and team-building context.
